People understand the concept of "intelligence" in their own way, for example, for an artist - these will be some qualities that great artists possessed, and for a mathematician - completely different. Therefore, a logical question arises, how can the IQ test determine the level of intelligence in both an athlete and an engineer?

What do IQ tests really reveal?

IQ from English. Intellectual quotent is a coefficient showing the level of mental development, available knowledge, obtained on the basis of test methods. For each age group, tasks of varying degrees of difficulty are provided, the average value of the results for all categories is 100 points. Tests include tasks for logical, spatial thinking, answers can be either verbal or digital, according to the number of the correct option.

First of all, a well-written test should show how quickly and well a person can absorb new information. With the help of the test it is also possible to evaluate how a person is with learning, that is, how well he has learned the knowledge gained earlier. Testing knowledge also allows you to learn about a person’s abilities. Using the test, you can determine how a person can draw conclusions based on incomplete information. That is, in this way it is possible to measure the subject's ability to think and generate ideas, which is very much appreciated in the modern world.

Can I believe the results of the IQ test?

Test results cannot be 100% correct, because all psychological tests are very approximate. Competent doctors will never draw their conclusions only on the basis of the test, because they always take into account its error. Sometimes there are times when a smart person has a low result. This inaccuracy may occur due to linguistic or cultural differences. In the hands of a competent specialist, the IQ test is a very useful tool, because it often produces the correct results. But you should never draw conclusions about a person based only on the results of various tests.
