Social psychologist is a very responsible profession, as it concerns the problems of other people. The disadvantages of this profession can be generalized into several factors: emotional problems, strained relationships with loved ones and squandering oneself.

Emotional problems

This may be surprising, but the psychologist who solves the emotional problems of others encounters them himself. The thing is that he passes patients through himself, trying to help them. It is especially difficult to cope with this at first, at the beginning of professional activity. Of course, this profession is in no way suitable for people with a quick-tempered character, since the specialist must remain calm and calm in any situation.

In addition, over time, a social psychologist can get bored with life, because all people will be predictable for him. Due to the daily solution of other people's problems, their own difficulties may seem uninteresting and insignificant. This may be good, but such a look may prevent them from being resolved.

Sooner or later, a social psychologist will face the fact that he will not be able to solve someone else’s problem, will not be able to help one of his patients. The problem is not even that such a situation can affect the reputation, but that this moment is not so easy for the psychologist to experience. Own experiences, bad thoughts will lead to the fact that the specialist himself will need the help of the same professional.

Tense relationships with loved ones

Having chosen the profession of a psychologist, a person becomes him everywhere and always, as for his family and relatives. Even when he is among the closest, he is tormented by a sense of duty. Having started to communicate on a professional level, even in the family circle, a person can ruin relations with its members, since not everyone will tolerate such a working approach.

There is another extreme. Maybe a social psychologist at least wants to take a break from other people's problems at home, but this is far from always understood by his relatives. They may think that psychologists are supermen who know the answers to all questions and are able to change people's lives. Because of this, they can turn to their native psychologist with these words: "You must listen and help, it’s not difficult for you." Due to this misunderstanding, big problems can arise in the family.
