Academician Leonid Zankov developed his own educational system for elementary school students. Her approach is aimed at the comprehensive development of the student. The scientist introduced such subjects as literary reading, music as part of his system, changed the programs of the Russian language and mathematics. Due to the increase in study material, he added another year of study.

Essence of the idea

The leading role in education is occupied by theoretical knowledge. Training takes place at a high level of difficulty, a large amount of material studied, the fast pace of its passage. These difficulties are designed for students to overcome independently. The teacher works on the overall development of each student. Zankov's approach is aimed at developing the creative abilities of the child. The main goal of the system is to make the student enjoy cognitive activity.

Lesson on the Zankov system

A lesson in the Zankov system is significantly different from a traditional lesson. Cognitive activity of students can be activated only with a confidential atmosphere in the classroom. Good relations should be established between the teacher and the students and mutual respect must be present. Children should be free to feel in the lesson and not be afraid of self-expression, while realizing that the teacher in the class still remains the main one. The teacher must adequately and correctly respond to the mistakes and actions of students. In no case shall a rude or humiliating attitude towards students be allowed.

The lesson is built in the form of a discussion. Pupils should be able to challenge the opinions of not only classmates, but also teachers, if they disagree and are not afraid to express their point of view. The teacher correctly corrects mistakes and does not give bad grades, but, on the contrary, any activity in the lesson is encouraged. Pupils independently acquire knowledge, and the teacher only helps and guides on the right path.

In addition to the usual lessons in the classroom, the system includes visits to excursions, trips to theaters, museums, and nature. This helps to diversify learning and broadens the horizons of children.

Features of textbooks

In the textbooks intended for training in the Zankov system, there are no sections with the repetition of the material passed. This material is included in the next new paragraph. Coloring books are used in the lessons. They help to interest children and develop their imagination. The textbooks include material for children with different types of thinking. In the workbooks on the Russian language there are tasks for students on self-control and introspection.
