Consider the number of significant digits. As a rule, you need to know the approximate value, that is, that in a kilogram about 35 ounces. You do not have to know that there are 35.27 ounces. Therefore, you can set a certain number of significant digits for some rounding of the results. At the same time, the absolute accuracy of the translation is sometimes very important. In this case, you put a larger number of significant digits and get a more accurate translation of one value into another.

But an online calculator is not always at hand and this is bad. But we rarely need to know the number of the prefix “kilo” means 1000 (that is, a thousand grams per kilogram, a thousand meters per kilometer, and so on), the “mega” prefix - 1 000 000, the “gig” prefix - 1 000 000 000. There are also the so-called fractional consoles, fractional units, when the prefix denotes a certain fraction of ten: “santi” - 10 to the power of -2, “miles” - 10 to the power of -3, “micro” - 10 to the power of? 6 and so on. Knowing these few prefixes, you can easily translate the basic quantities without any calculators and complex programs.
