A bibliographic list is a list of sources that were used to write a scientific paper. The list of references for the dissertation should include from 100 to 600 sources, and the specific number of literary sources varies for each specialty separately. Correctly draw up a list of references for a dissertation will help a detailed scheme for describing bibliography materials.

Instruction manual

one

Write the name of the author. If the document has up to three authors, only the first individual author is described. If there are four or more authors, or you describe the collection, or the author’s name is not named at all - in these cases the document is described under the title.

2

Write a title and use a colon and space to indicate information that relates to the title. You can find this information on the title of the cited source. Then put a slash and provide information about the responsibility, i.e. last name (s) of the author (s).

3

Put a semicolon and, with a space, describe the following statement of responsibility. These are the names of all members of the team of authors (if the book was edited by one author), as well as editors and translators. After specifying this information, put an end to it.

4

Put a dash and capitalize the edition information. These include information on reprinting, publication number. Put a period after the publication number.

5

Put a dash and indicate the place of publication with a capital letter. Abbreviated spelling of only two cities is allowed: Moscow (M) and St. Petersburg (St. Petersburg). The name of the remaining cities is written in full.

6

Put a colon and capitalize the name of the publisher, separated by a comma - the year of publication. After that, put a period, then a dash and indicate the number of pages of the source, and in parentheses you can name the series of the publication, if any.

note

In scientific work, it is not recommended to refer to sources in encyclopedias and similar reference books, as well as in magazines and newspapers (only if your research is not based on the analysis of media materials). In addition, all sources indicated by you should be mentioned in the text of your dissertation.

Useful advice

Describe sources from the Internet in accordance with the above recommendations, but instead of publishing information write “access mode” and insert the site address through a colon and space. Bear in mind that online sources often become obsolete or even cease to exist.
