What exams do you need to take for a designer

Design specialties are in constant demand among applicants, the competition for design departments is always very high. That is why you should find out in advance which exams you will have to take for design majors.

Russian language. This is a mandatory subject for all graduates who pass the exam. When crediting points for this subject can add up to all other exams, but it may be that the Russian language will simply be counted automatically without taking into account the points.

Literature. This subject often acts as one of the specialized in design specialties of the humanitarian direction, and since the competition for them is usually high, you should prepare well for the exam. Instead of literature, a university may require the history of Russia or geography as a subject. Depending on the university and on a particular design specialty, the subject subject may change.

Computer science or mathematics. Some engineering or graphic design majors require a good knowledge of mathematics or computer science if the design is related to web resources.

In addition to passing the exam, all applicants applying for admission to design majors are awaiting a creative competition. To do this, if required, an applicant needs to bring his portfolio with works - drawings, paintings to the university selection committee. And also diplomas for winning competitions in creativity. The presence of a portfolio is not an obligatory element for admission, but in some universities, portfolios are included in the creative competition, and the work of applicants is evaluated and bring them extra points.

After graduating from the Unified State Examination, applicants for design majors pass a drawing, painting and composition. In a number of universities, there is only one or two of these tests, but usually all three are surrendered. Successful passing of such an exam requires specific skills and knowledge: either preparatory courses, or a specialized art college, or an art school. In such an examination, specific skills in drawing, painting and composition are evaluated. Without the concept of line-up, the culture of graphic performance, the technique of drawing, hatching, linear-perspective construction, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to pass such an exam.

It should be noted that design specialties are very diverse. They can train clothing, interior or landscape designers, graphic designers, web designers. So the set of exams will vary for each of these specialties. Therefore, you need to decide in advance which university and which specialty to apply for, and only then it will be known exactly which exams to pass to the designer.
