How to spend a week of math

Subject weeks are an integral part of extracurricular work on the subject. A fun and interesting week spent contributes to the development of children's interest in the subject being studied, the expansion and generalization of their knowledge, and contributes to the formation of a classroom team.

During the subject week in mathematics, the activities of students can be varied. Plan events so that they meet the level of preparedness of children, expand their knowledge, develop logic, speed of thinking.

Talk on math on the first day of the subject week. The topics of such conversations can be very different: "The emergence of plus and minus", "Who is Pythagoras, " "Why are the numbers so called?" and others. Develop tasks for each parallel, determine the composition of the participants in the Olympiad (all comers or a certain number of people from the class). Prepare task forms and answer sheets for each participant. On the appointed day, seat the children at their desks one at a time, give out assignments, drafts, and sheets or forms for recording answers. Determine the end time. Try to check the work and announce the results as quickly as possible, congratulating the winners and encouraging those who have not yet taken high places.

Conduct a mathematical KVN between teams of the same parallel. Specify the number of people in the team, give them homework. For example, to prepare a greeting to a team of rivals, the name, motto and staging of a poem about mathematics. As tasks for KVN one can offer solving riddles, solving examples with missing numbers, logical problems, tasks of ingenuity. Determine the composition of the jury in advance and prepare everything necessary for the award.

2-3 weeks before the math week, organize creative work in the classrooms. In the elementary grades, for example, you can offer to make panels using only geometric shapes. Or arrange a clamshell book with riddles about numbers, supplement it with illustrations and give it to pupils of a sponsored kindergarten. First graders can arrange an exhibition of drawings "My favorite figure."

Research work will also be appropriate at this time. Of course, their implementation and execution requires a significant amount of time. Therefore, only project protection should be assigned to a math week. This may be "Mathematics and Space", "What is the mystery of mathematical tricks", "Games of attention" and the like.

End your math week with a great holiday. At it reward the winners of the Olympiad, quiz, KVN, mark the best creative and research work. Classes participating in the festival will show amateur performances related to mathematics. A big interesting holiday will be the logical conclusion of the subject week.
