How to check a higher education diploma

In turn, employers and staff workers, increasingly faced with false qualification documents, are looking for reliable ways to confirm the diplomas presented. In order to verify the diploma of higher education for authenticity, you need to know how and where the fake documents come from.

There are two main ways to fake state diplomas. In the first case, the diploma is completely falsified with the help of original crusts and letterhead forms purchased from unscrupulous university workers or printing houses associated with the preparation and issuance of diplomas. That is, deliberately false information is entered into genuine state forms, and signatures and stamps are also forged. In some cases, forms and crusts themselves can be falsified. In the second case, fake information is entered into an authentic, original university diploma issued several years ago to one of the graduates by erasing and adding. As a rule, such fakes leave visible traces that an experienced personnel officer is able to notice.

Verification of a diploma raises serious doubts about its authenticity, has traces of fake, then the employer has the right to conduct an expert verification of the document through law enforcement agencies. For this, a corresponding application is filed with the prosecutor. The basis for confirming the authenticity or forgery of the document is an expert opinion and a certificate from the university, provided at the request of law enforcement agencies.

The second way to verify the authenticity of a diploma involves two steps. First, on the basis of Article 86 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, the employee takes written consent to receive information about his education from third parties (that is, from the university that issued the diploma). The law assumes that an honest person has nothing to hide in this situation and there is no reason to refuse to give this information to the employer. The fact of an employee’s disagreement with a request to an educational institution can already be regarded as an indirect confirmation of his dishonesty.

If the employee agrees to the proposed verification, an official request is issued to the university that issued the diploma. Since each state-issued diploma has its own unique number, information about which is stored in the archive of the educational institution, it is absolutely not difficult to confirm the authenticity and date of issue of a particular diploma.
