You can begin to teach your child to read when he turns one year old, but the optimal period is from 2.5 to 5 years. Exercises aimed at teaching reading take no more than 10-15 minutes a day, and the result is noticeable after a few months. It is difficult for young children to learn the alphabet, it is much easier for them to remember the spelling of whole words, not individual letters. Therefore, teaching kids to read is based on memorizing words, phrases, sentences, written in large print on white cards.

You will need

Sheets of white paper, scissors, red marker, books

Instruction manual

one

Cut a 10x50 cm card from a thick white sheet of paper. With a red marker with a thick core, write on the card a word known to the baby. Use those words that he often hears and whose meaning he understands well. For example, the words "mother", "father", "woman", "grandfather", the names of family members, the names of your favorite foods ("candy", "banana"), toys ("typewriter", "horse"). The size of the cards can be gradually reduced, as well as the font size.

2

Prepare 15 cards with words. Show the child one card, clearly pronounce the word that is written on it. Take the second, third, fourth, fifth card and repeat the procedure. Show the baby cards with words should be no longer than 1-2 seconds. After showing the fifth card, complete the lesson. Praise the child, hug him. During the day, repeat classes three times, taking a break between them for at least half an hour. On the second day, add five new cards. On the third day - the remaining five cards with words. Thus, on the third day, the number of lessons with the baby will increase to nine per day - three times with every five cards.

3

After a week, change the composition of the cards to a new one. This time you can write words on them that indicate body parts (arm, leg, eye, neck), household items (chair, table, bed, wardrobe), personal items (spoon, shoes, ball, scarf, mittens), products food (milk, soup, porridge, apple, water), animals (cat, dog, fish, bird, ant). The next step is to study the verbs familiar to the baby (drink, sleep, eat, walk, dress). Followed by adjectives (left, right, empty, full, clean, dirty).

4

Take sheets of colored paper and cut out cards from them. Write the word for the color of the card on its back. First show the child the word, then turn the card over and show him its color. When the colors are learned, make phrases from the words known to the baby: a red chair, a blue ball, a pink elephant, etc.

5

The next step will be to build simple sentences: Borya is sleeping, mom is reading, dad is eating, the cat is jumping. To fit the words on the cards, reduce the font size to 5 cm. To make it easier for the baby to read sentences, make a picture book out of cards with sentences. You can illustrate the proposals, for example, with photographs in which the child performs an action.

6

Write on the cards common offers: dad eat yellow carrots; the cat drinks delicious milk; Borya is sleeping on a blue pillow. Reduce the font height to 4 cm. Since all the words used in the sentences are familiar to the child, it will not be difficult for him to master a large number of such speech structures. Gradually reduce the font size until it becomes the same as in regular books.

7

The next step is the transition to reading books. Best for this are books that are familiar to the baby, for example, those that you read to him every day. Do not rush the child. Look for familiar words with him in the book, praise the little one for zeal. If the kid is not interested in store books, make your own. Write a short fairy tale from the words that the baby has already learned, and draw illustrations for it. Before you start reading a new book, make sure that all the words in it are known to the child. Get interesting books - sooner or later, the baby will certainly want to read them.

note

The font height for writing words is 7.5 cm. Margins 1.5 cm wide should be left at the edges of the card. If you need to write two or more words on the card, be sure to leave spaces between them. The thickness of the letters is 1.5 cm.
