The unified state exam serves as a kind of obstacle, overcoming which the student leaves behind his back eleven years of schooling. The exam in social studies is a basic subject, the inclusion of many universities in the list of exams required. It should be sorted out which particular set of exams the future applicant will take. Russian language and mathematics should be taken as a basis, as they are compulsory subjects. If you complement this collection only with social studies, then one of the most prestigious specialties that will be opened will be economics. But this does not mean that the economist is a narrow and prestigious specialty that is not quoted on the labor market. An economist is a broad concept that contains many so-called derivative specialties. So, choosing the specialization of an economist, you can do the following: accounting analysis and audit; finance and credit; trading business; global economy; financial management; economic pedagogy; personnel management and so on.

Making a choice in favor of such specializations as psychology and sociology, one can enter the following faculties: faculty of psychology; sociology; pedagogy.

Complementing the collection of exams with history, such specialties as jurisprudence, philosophy, political science, conflict studies and, in some universities, service and advertising are added. If we replace history with a foreign language or literature, then we will find philology, the faculty of foreign languages, the faculty of culture and art.

A set of social studies, chemistry and biology, provides an opportunity to enter the medical, environmental, and, perhaps, sports faculty. By grouping social science with geography and physics, the doors to physics, mathematics, geography, tourism, agroengineering, and technology are opening.
