How to count the average score

Many employers indicate in vacancies that they are interested in candidates with a high average diploma score. As a rule, this refers to an average score of 4.5-5.0. To calculate the average score and find out if you are suitable for such an employer, you need to stock up on attention and perform some simple arithmetic calculations.

The average score is the sum of all the grades received, divided by their number. If you need to calculate the average mark of a university diploma, then all grades that you put in the diploma will be taken into account. In this case, grades for the “intermediate” differentiated offsets will not be included. For example, in some long-lasting disciplines, students take differentiated tests each semester, however, only the mark for the last differentiated test or exam is applied to the diploma - throughout the course.

It should be remembered that usually grades for state exams, and term papers, and for diploma work, and for the results of internships at the university are also put in the diploma. These ratings are also summarized with everyone else.

The average score is most conveniently calculated as follows: first you think how many grades you have in your diploma are “excellent”, how many grades are “good” and how many grades are “satisfactory”. Summarize points. Then summarize the number of ratings. The first amount must be divided by the second. As a result, your average score will be obtained.

Example: student N. has 18 excellent marks, 16 good marks and 4 satisfactory marks in a diploma. The average score of student N. is calculated as follows:

- 18 is multiplied by 5. It turns out 90;

- 16 is multiplied by 4. It turns out 64;

- 4 is multiplied by 3. It turns out 12;

- 64 and 12 are added to 90. Total 166 - all points of student N;

- 16 and 4 are added to 18. Total 38 - all grades of student N;

- 166 is divided by 38. It turns out to be about 4.36. This is the average student N.
