You wrote the main text of the thesis and now you need to formulate the main conclusions of the study. These few pages, called "conclusion", are very difficult to give. After all, it is here that you need to present the quintessence of all your multi-page (and long-suffering) work, its most important and interesting results.

Instruction manual

one

When writing conclusions for the thesis, focus on 2-4 pages - this is the usual amount of conclusion. It is better to write conclusions not in "solid" text, but to structure them into paragraphs (at least three), number the paragraphs. Visually and meaningfully, this gives greater clarity to the generalized formulations. A well-structured conclusion will serve as an excellent basis for the report with which you will speak in defense of your thesis.

2

Relate the findings of the graduate study to its general plan, which usually involves three parts: theoretical, empirical, and recommendatory. Accordingly, the results presented in the conclusion can conditionally be divided into three blocks. As a result, in conclusion, you will get, for example, seven points: a couple of conclusions on a theoretical chapter, three points on the results of an empirical study, one point - practical recommendations, another one - a description of the prospects for further study of this problem.

3

The answer to the question “what exactly needs to be included in the conclusions” will be even simpler if you turn to the tasks and hypotheses of your research, indicated in the introduction to the thesis. Everything that you wrote about in the future tense (“give a definition”, “identify”, “conduct a comparative analysis”, etc.) is translated into the past tense verbs, revealing the result itself (“Network journalism was defined as

.

", " we identified the following types of Internet audience

", " a comparative analysis of the audiences of print and Internet publications showed that

").

4

Try to present the results of the thesis in a clear, concise and concise form. Do not overload the conclusion with details, quotes, examples, numbers and names without the need - all this should be in the main text of the thesis. In conclusion, it is necessary to show whether the goal of the study has been achieved, whether the initial hypotheses were confirmed, what was possible to understand, identify and do in the course of solving the tasks. As in other sections of the diploma, the scientific style here requires the use of impersonal constructions ("it was revealed", "were developed").

note

The conclusions to the thesis should indicate not only its theoretical or practical significance, but also the high level of your literacy and research culture.
