The list of references is one of the sections of scientific work. It indicates all the bibliographic materials that were used when writing the work. The order of registration of the list of literature is regulated by the relevant GOST. One type of source is an article in a journal. How to arrange it in the list of references?

You will need

  • - source article;

  • - text editor;

Instruction manual

one

Before entering an article in the list of references, check whether there is a link to it in the text of the work. Remember that you can add to the list of references only those sources that you refer to in the text.

2

The first step in the link is to list the authors, with last names and initials. If up to three authors participated in the creation of the article, then you can list them all. If there were more than three, then after the first write "et al." This also applies to articles by foreign authors, "et al." in this case is replaced by Latin et al. It is believed that this expression should be in italics, but the absence of selection is also allowed.

3

Then write the full title of the article. Be careful, observe the spelling and punctuation of the author. If at the end of the title of the article there is a question or exclamation mark, then it must be put down in the bibliographic description. Otherwise, no sign is affixed. After the title of the article, put two slashes (//).

4

Indicate in which journal this article was published. Common abbreviations are allowed in this part of the bibliographic description.

5

The following is the year of issue of the magazine.

6

Indicate the volume number (if any) and the journal issue number.

7

Additionally, you can specify the page numbers on which this article is located in this journal.

Viktorov I.V. Mammalian brain stem cells: in vivo and in vitro stem cell biology // Izvestiya AN. Biological series.- 2001.- No. 6.- C. 646-655.

note

Keep in mind that each publication may have its own principles for the design of bibliographic descriptions. Carefully read the instructions, if provided, and clearly follow them.

Useful advice

Bibliographic lists at the end of the scientific work are intended to facilitate the search for the literature you have indicated for those people who want to refer to the source. Therefore, approach responsibly to the formation of a list of references.
