Now foreign languages play a very important and prominent role in people's lives. And not only translators, but also people of other specialties, often face the need to understand texts in a foreign language. But for this they must first be translated. How to learn to translate texts from Russian or into Russian?

You will need

- textbooks and translation manuals.

Instruction manual

one

If you do not know the language you are going to translate well, increase your level of knowledge. This can be done by repeating the basic grammatical constructions and forms.

2

Find the right literature for consultation. Textbooks on the theory and practice of translation can be either borrowed from the library or purchased at one of the bookstores. When choosing, pay attention to the orientation of the study guide - theoretical or practical. They complement each other, but if you subsequently need to translate simple texts, then you will have enough manuals for practical translation.

3

If you have the opportunity, sign up for translation courses. This will help you in the first stage, since you will have a teacher who can ask questions and submit your texts for review. Similar courses are available at many language schools. Before you pay for the course, find out if you can attend a trial lesson for free. In this case, you can understand the level of teaching and the specifics of the course and figure out whether it is suitable for you or not.

4

If you do not have time or money for such courses, start studying on your own. Practice translating the type of text you need. It can be fiction, journalistic, technical texts. If you want to learn how to translate, say, scientific articles on a specific topic into Russian, first read a few similar materials already written in Russian. You will understand their stylistic features and will not transfer "tracing" from a foreign language into them. For example, not everyone knows that first-person speech in Russian scientific articles is not welcome. And the translation of the corresponding English or French phrase “I got the results” in a Russian scientific article should be changed to impersonal “The results were obtained” or, in extreme cases, “We got the results”.

note

Keep in mind that you can independently learn to translate texts, but without a diploma of a translator you will not have the right to certify documents, for example, for submission to official instances.
