Statistics say that a quarter of Russians want their children to study abroad. The results of surveys and studies have shown that some countries are very popular among Russian applicants who want to get higher education abroad. These are the USA, France, England and Finland. Consider the features of training in these countries and the basic principles of the education system.
USA
This is not the first year that the United States of America has been considered the most popular country in terms of the quality of higher education, and the number of enrolled students from other countries is constantly growing.
After graduating from high school (high school level), a graduate can apply for college or university of his choice. The university is more suitable for those who want to engage in science and research. In colleges, in the first place is the direct acquisition of a profession and further labor activity in this specialization.
Some US universities give their students the freedom to choose two or three major majors. You can study in your main area, and you can additionally choose auxiliary areas.
England
The system of higher education in England involves the completion of compulsory college, which is the first stage of higher education. Training lasts 12 months.
After exams, the applicant can choose any higher education institution in the country. Students are enrolled in the main specialty after a trial listening to a series of lectures in several courses. Such general disciplines make it possible to finally determine the specialty and last one semester. One semester is enough for the student to understand all the specific characteristics of the future profession.
Having independently chosen the main courses and disciplines, students begin compulsory undergraduate practice. It consists in the fact that for three years it is necessary to take term papers on each selected subject every semester. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, pre-diploma practice is not needed, but for those who want to obtain a master’s degree, it is mandatory.
France
There is an opinion that the French system of higher education is confusing and incomprehensible. But this is not so.
For two years of study, the student receives basic professional skills and can get a job. But diplomas after two years of study are lowly quoted among employers and students, as a rule, study further.
There is a concept of additional specialization that students can receive, in addition to the primary diploma. Study lasts from one to two years, at the end of the students a license is issued.
So, the version of training in France consists of three stages:
1. 24 months of study, at the end - a diploma of general university education;
2. 12 months of preparation for obtaining a license (the institute of magistracy offers 36 months of study);
3. The choice of students between research studies and obtaining a specialty. The first option involves training in research, the second - a one-year internship.
Finland
Finland has much in common with the system of higher education in the Russian Federation. For example, like Russian vocational schools, there is a Finnish basic vocational education. After three years of training in institutions of this kind, graduates find work for themselves. You can also upgrade your skills or enter a higher education institution.
Finland offers free higher education, both for Finnish citizens and for graduates from other countries, including Russia. You need to pay only for textbooks.
Obtaining a bachelor's or master's degree lasts from three to six years.
