The fate of the word determines its use in conversation. Archaisms today again begin to meet in everyday speech. Their role is diverse. Some are used in fiction, others in everyday life.
Archaisms are the obsolete names of objects, things that are used in life. These names are no longer used because new names were invented for objects. This process is inevitable. A particularly sharp jump in name changes occurred in the post-revolutionary period. After the revolution, officers, warrant officers, ministers and soldiers changed to Red Army soldiers, commanders and people's commissars. But now the old names have returned to the course. Already in the 1920s, the word leader was included in the list of archaisms, but now he is again actively used.
Archaisms in art vocabulary
In artworks, historical films archaisms are often used. Without them, it is impossible to show the real life of the past. Therefore, in films and books you can often find such words as a clerk, spectator, knowledge, chain mail and others.
Poets use archaisms when it is necessary to pick up a rhyme. In poems, words such as lips, eyes, this, brow, adversary and others are used.
Archaisms in Science
Research work also implies the use of archaisms. In scientific works involving the study of historical moments, archaisms cannot be dispensed with. But one must not confuse archaisms and historicisms. Historisms are words whose use has disappeared as a result of the disappearance of the subject designating them.
Archaisms in ordinary life
The use of archaisms gives speech solemnity, splendor. Therefore, outdated words often use shocking personalities. In most cases, inconsistent combinations of sounds are used. You can hear words such as young, pasport, voice, hail and others.
Also, archaisms are used in everyday life inside quotes. "Evil Kashchei over gold withers." Gold is archaism. Beaumond began to use archaisms too. Very often in the secular circle you can hear, for example, such a word as voyage. The upper world again began to call travel by this word.
Ordinary people use archaisms as metaphors. The word barin became the designation of a lazy person; a tavern is a cafe or restaurant; an engraftment (formerly an intellectual or an impoverished merchant) has become an insulting word.
