You must conduct scientific and pedagogical activity for at least ten years and at the same time have high pedagogical skill, based on your scientific achievements. This may be the head of the department in higher educational institutions with state accreditation, writing of diploma and term papers by students under your scientific supervision, defense of candidate dissertations by your graduate students. You must give a certain amount of lectures on your subject at a high professional level.

At least five of your students should receive degrees under your supervision, that is, become academic supervisors or consultants. The number of scientific works and study guides published by you should be at least fifty. It can be monographs or textbooks written in collaboration. And at least five of them you must publish after you defend your doctoral dissertation. It is advisable that you have experience in participating in scientific conferences.

When all the documents are collected, a preliminary meeting of the department of a scientific institution is held, at which you are required to make a detailed report on your scientific, educational, pedagogical and methodological work. If the report is successful and a positive decision is made by the department, the department head will file a memo to the university administration. The administration, having examined it, will have to decide on the conferment of the academic title of professor. In the case of conferring the academic title of professor, you will be issued a certificate of a single state standard.

The academic title of a professor is life-long, that is, you will not lose it when you retire. However, in case of violations in the procedure for its receipt, a special commission may decide to deprive him.
