In most copyright works, authors use a table of contents that allows you to quickly find the section you want. The content is applied in cases where a book or other work consists of works that are independent of each other. This may be collected works, collections of works, collections of articles and other works. Content is formed in a few steps.

Make a list of all independent works included in the work in question. It must be absolutely complete. If the contents include the names of verses, then no verse from the book should be omitted. The list can be compiled either manually or using special programs.

For each work, indicate the page where it can be found. Usually in collections all works are located on a new page. In cheap publications, in order to save space, works can simply follow one another. If you use the program, it will detect pages automatically.

Do a checkout. Make sure that the content includes all independent parts of your work. Do this check even if you use special programs. After all, they form the content based on manually defined text styles. The check will reveal possible errors related to the human factor.

Try not to confuse the contents and the table of contents. Content is a list of articles, works, other materials found in the book. A table of contents is a list of sections and subsections. A particular book uses either one or the other.
Useful advice
Text editors have a feature to automatically create a table of contents. But if you need content, you can use the same function. In this case, make the document the simplest structure - highlight the names of all works with the "Title" style. And enable, as usual, the table of contents feature. But in fact, instead of the table of contents, you get the contents of the book.
