According to Russian law, every educational institution, whether it be a school, a university, a kindergarten, or a kindergarten, must periodically confirm the quality of its educational services. These services must meet certain standards. The confirmation of this compliance is called accreditation.

Why do I need accreditation?

Each school is accredited every five years. If the educational institution wants to change its status, that is, to turn from a comprehensive school into a lyceum or gymnasium, an additional procedure will be required. Accreditation is needed primarily in order for the school to have the right to issue state certificates.

Sometimes situations arise when, for one reason or another, the school does not receive an accreditation document. Then the knowledge of graduates, for which students do not pass unified state exams, is checked by a commission from an educational institution that has the necessary package of documents. The certificate will indicate the name of not the school in which the child studied, but the one that issued the document. The second important point is obtaining funding from the budget. The state acts as a guarantor of the quality of educational services, and, accordingly, provides financial assistance only to those educational institutions that have a document confirming the quality.

Accreditation procedure

As a rule, the education committee has a plan for when which school should pass certification, accreditation or licensing. This is an open document available to all heads of educational institutions. The director can only prepare a package of documents according to the list and write a statement. After 105 days, the accreditation commission must notify the director of the decision to accredit or refuse.

A complete set of documents must be attached to the application. After the application is submitted and registered, the accreditation commission considers the submitted data, and on this basis makes a decision. The list can be found on the official website of Rosobrnadzor. Particular attention should be paid to proper design. An incorrectly executed document may become the basis for refusal of accreditation. If all the papers comply with the requirements, the accreditation body decides to consider the issue on its merits. A notice of this is given to the applicant or his authorized person within a week after registration of the application. The accreditation body may enable the school to reissue some documents or collect missing ones. This usually takes two weeks.
