Any scientific work, from a simple school essay to a serious university dissertation, must have a thoughtful structure and comply with the rules for the design and structuring of such works. One of these rules is the obligatory presence at the end of the work of a list of used literature, and you should also be able to correctly provide links to sources that you used to write your work.

Instruction manual

one

Use authoritative and generally recognized sources on your subject in the list of literature and do not forget to include periodicals in addition to ordinary books and encyclopedias - magazines, newspapers, almanacs, scientific articles, collections published at scientific conferences. All these publications should be as fresh as possible - their age should not exceed two years.

2

Do not include unknown authors in the list - the more eminent writers, both Russian and foreign, you indicate in the list, the more favorable your teacher will be to your work. Demonstrate that you are keeping up with the times - list electronic publications and websites with a serious reputation in the list of references. The number of literary sources for your work must meet the requirements specified in the methodological manual.

3

Sort the list of sources by the first letters of the names of the authors, sorting them alphabetically. To optimize this process, use the special Microsoft Word feature. Select all sources of literature, except for websites and legislative acts, and then in the "Table" menu, click on the "Sort" section.

4

In the window that appears, set the necessary parameters - so that the text is sorted alphabetically, and then click OK, having previously formatted the list, highlighting each source as a separate paragraph.

5

Each line of your list should contain the name of the author, the name of the book or article (in the case of the article, put a double slash after the name and enter the name of the periodical, and in the case of the book, the name of the publisher), then indicate the year of publication and the number of the journal or newspaper and finally, the number of pages in a book or article.

6

Select the entire list and number it by clicking the numbering button on the Word control panel.
