How to make a visual aid

When conducting classes at school, often there is a need for visual aids designed to figuratively demonstrate the material being studied. In particular, this applies to abstract mathematical categories. Such manuals allow you to consider in the most accessible form issues that are quite difficult for ordinary assimilation.

Prepare the simplest visual aids from environmental objects. Notebooks, pencils, calculating sticks, buttons, pebbles and even fallen leaves can become material for learning counting, addition and subtraction actions. Some of these subjects can subsequently be used to familiarize students with the beginnings of geometry, including simple spatial forms.

As visual visual teaching aids, choose paintings or pre-prepared tables with images of objects familiar to children, people, animals, as well as art cards, from which make sets of cards with inserts (applications). Such visual aids are used as counting material.

Use in training various models of measuring instruments and tools. It can be made of cardboard clock dial with moving hands, cup scales with different weights, model measures (liter, meter, etc.).

To consider geometric concepts, make flat figures and three-dimensional models of bodies (cube, tetrahedron, parallelepiped) from paper and cardboard. For greater expressiveness, use multi-colored paper or colored self-adhesive film.

For older children, make tables that are text and / or numerical entries arranged in a predetermined order. The basic principle of building tables is to group together a series of figures and diagrams. To create tables, use large sheets of paper glued to a thick cloth or cardboard. One of the possible types of cognitive tables is the “Measurement” series, in which you can give a visual representation of the main measures of length, area, weight, etc.

To learn the score and develop relevant skills, make the so-called arithmetic box. It is most convenient to make such a box of a cubic shape with two opening walls. Inside, place wooden multi-colored cubes and bars equal in length to ten cubed blocks in a row. These elements are used for visual training in counting and numbering. The main advantage of such a benefit is the visual display of the relations between the basic and digit units in the decimal system.
