Today, Russian schoolchildren have the opportunity to receive education in various ways. In addition to traditional schooling, you can go to family education, external studies and individual education. If you are sure that with individual instruction your child will be able to learn better and pass many of the problems inherent in a comprehensive school, then you will need to obtain the consent of the school administration and medical specialists.

Find out if the charter of the school in which the child is studying has a clause on individual instruction. The school has the right to refuse you if there is no such provision in the charter. Perhaps it makes sense to transfer the child to another school.

2

Contact the city department of education and explain your problem. In some cases, the department obliges the school to include a paragraph in the charter.

3

Take a certificate from a pediatrician in a district clinic about referring a child to a psychological, medical and pedagogical consultation (PMPK). If the child is registered in the clinic, then the attending physician must issue a referral.

4

Get a medical opinion about your child’s health. The psychological-medical-pedagogical consultation identifies the educational needs and capabilities of the child, starting from his psychological and physical condition at the moment. He also issues a certificate of the need for individual training. This certificate is not given for the entire training period. Every year you need to undergo an examination again.

5

Write a statement about transferring the child to individual education in the name of the school principal. The application should spell out a list of subjects of study and the number of hours per week allocated to each study. Subjects and the number of hours are discussed with the school administration, from 8 to 12 hours per week in total for all subjects.

6

Contact the district education committee if you want to increase the educational load on the child. Keep in mind that you will pay extra hours yourself.

7

Check with your teachers and school administrators for your child’s learning schedule. Teachers can come home, or a student can come to school and engage with the teacher individually, other than from class time.

Read the order on the appointment of teachers and the frequency of certification of the child during the school year, which must be signed by the director. A student must have a gradebook. It fixes homework and puts marks on each subject.
