The characterization of the hero is a fairly common form of testing the understanding of the text or topic as a whole. You can get such a task in the classroom on literature, literary and linguistic analysis, as well as in the classroom in foreign languages.

one

You can only characterize a hero whom you know well. Therefore, you first of all need to get acquainted with the contents of the work of art for which you have been given the task. You need to figure out the details and try to understand the subtext of this work. It is also impossible to characterize the hero in isolation from other heroes: they are all closely connected and influence each other as the plot develops.

2

The characterization of the hero sometimes does not need to be sought out in the subtext. The text contains the so-called direct characteristics: how the author speaks about his hero, how he describes him, and how other heroes speak about him. All this must be taken into account when the character is described. Your answer to the hero is not just your personal impressions and conclusions.

3

It is more difficult to find in the text and describe indirect characteristics in a coherent text. These are the conclusions that a sufficiently attentive reader can draw by familiarizing himself with the actions of the hero and his behavior. A deeper understanding of the text is already needed here. No one will say: this one is beautiful, this one is polite, and that one is rude to women. You will have to look for it all yourself and put on the right shape, choosing the most suitable epithets and detailed characteristics.

4

You can go beyond the analysis of a single work. Follow the development of the image you have entrusted over the centuries: maybe films or cartoons were shot from this book, maybe the same character appeared in other literary works. Of course, this is a deeper analysis of the character, a deeper understanding of the work, and the implementation of such work requires time and effort, but the characterization will ultimately be more complete.
