If this method does not suit you, try the old method. Select any text, count the number of characters in it. To do this, copy it into the Word program, look at the number of characters without spaces in the "Tools" section, selecting the "Statistics" menu. You can also calculate the number of characters using the Open Office program, in the "File" section. Track the time with a stopwatch and start typing. As soon as the text ends, immediately turn off the stopwatch. Then translate the time spent in seconds, given that in one minute 60 seconds and divide the number of characters in the text by the received number. This way you know the number of beats per second. Multiplying this number by 60, you get the number of characters per minute.

Standards for writing speed for a student: from 90 to 140 characters per minute - a rating of "3", from 140 to 180 characters - a rating of "4", over 180 characters - a rating of "5". For professionals, a speed of 350-400 characters per minute is considered normal. Record - about 750 characters.
