How to sell textbooks

The educational literature refers to "temporary books." Textbooks quickly become obsolete because school curricula are changing. Therefore, after the end of the school year, books should be sold quickly - from spring to autumn - without postponing to the next year. Not all books are sold in second-hand bookstores, and you have to share profit with the store, it is much more profitable to sell without intermediaries.

Have fun with parents whose children have completed the school year with your child. Sales alone may not be as effective. Agree that you will sell textbooks "in bulk" - all at once in one hand to save time.

Make a catalog of books. Mark the title, author, year of publication, publisher. Count the total number of textbooks for each item.

Define pricing policy. To do this, find out the prices for similar new textbooks and make a discount that can attract parents who want to save. If there are second-hand shops nearby, look at the prices there too, so that in conversations with customers you can confidently declare that you are offering favorable conditions.

Post parental announcements to schools that there’s a way to save on textbooks. Ideally, the compiled list should be posted on the Internet so that interested buyers do not ask unnecessary questions by phone. Before posting an announcement in the next school, get the permission of the administration: explain that you are the parents, not the seller company who wants to advertise their services.

Do not rely on a single ad, do a lot of work to get a guaranteed result. You may find buyers at your school, but someone will want to buy new books, others order books through familiar sellers, etc., so act in all directions. In order for you not to be bothered by calls for several months, indicate only the site address with a list of textbooks in the ad. When you sell everything, remove the contacts from the site.

Collect applications and sell books. Let those interested know that you are looking for a wholesale buyer who will purchase textbooks for the entire class. Parents or teachers can organize a general fundraising and collect everything that is available.
