A master's thesis is a qualification work, according to the results of which the applicant receives an academic master's degree. At the scientific level, a master’s degree is awarded after receiving a bachelor’s degree and serves as a transitional stage for entering graduate school. To write a master's thesis means to show the ability to independently organize and conduct scientific research.

You will need

  • - get a bachelor's degree;

  • - receive confirmation of the dean’s admission to the magistracy;

  • - pass a competitive selection upon admission.

Instruction manual

one

Define the topic of the dissertation from among the recommended master's programs presented at the department at which the study is conducted. The topic can be chosen independently, but it must be agreed with the supervisor.

2

Develop an individual plan of work on the dissertation, designed for 2 years. Try to align your capabilities with the requirements of the magistracy. Allocate time for each task from the supervisor that is slightly longer than required to avoid unforeseen problems during the execution of the work. Submit an individual plan for approval to the dean’s office.

3

Study the literature on your topic. The most valuable sources for writing a dissertation are scientific sources, indicating the possibilities of solving the problem stated in your work. Use foreign experience that could be adapted to domestic reality.

4

Logically and consistently build historical material that reveals the dynamics of the development of the problem, the solution of which is devoted to the master's thesis. The current problem can be solved through the use of existing and previously developed technologies, or require an innovative search from the author.

5

Develop your innovative model for solving the problem. In the master's thesis, it is not yet required to conduct a scientific study of something completely new, so a model can be developed that combines several already known technologies. Please note that these technologies do not contradict each other, but logically complement one another, creating structural integrity.

6

Test the innovation. Describe the research results obtained using scientific methods of mathematical processing of materials. Draw conclusions about the degree of effectiveness of the developed model.

7

Summarize all the information about your research in an explanatory note to the dissertation, which is compiled by the type of abstract, but is not.

eight

Submit your work to the main certification committee. Attach a review of the supervisor and a review to the work, which should be written by a specialist in the same scientific field to which your work relates.

note

If a master's thesis is performed at the intersection of two sciences, then there should be two scientific supervisors or consultants.

Useful advice

Materials of the dissertation should be published, but not necessarily in scientific journals. These can be abstracts of conferences, reports and discussions of round tables, publications of electronic and printed publications.
