Learning a foreign language is far from easy for everyone. Incorrect technique of memorizing vocabulary leads to the fact that the acquired knowledge is quickly forgotten. However, memorizing words in another language can be made very effective.

Make cards to memorize words. On one side write the word in a foreign language, on the other - translation and transcription. Take a few of them with you on any trip or to work. In a traffic jam or at a lunch break, take out cards and check yourself.

Install one of the programs on your work computer that will help you remember new words. For example, a similar feature is available in the popular ABBYY Lingvo dictionary. You enter new words into your personal vocabulary, and the program offers you to check yourself with a certain frequency. All you need to do is break away for 2 minutes from business and enter the correct answers.

Try to learn foreign words not separately, but by topics. A similar principle is used in the vast majority of linguistic educational institutions. At the same time, compiling a mini-dictionary on a specific topic, arrange the terms so that they begin with different letters. Alphabetical order will complicate memorization. Subsequently, you can always remember from which field a particular word is, and you will pick up a translation much faster.

Use the associative series method. With a proper level of imagination, you will probably note that the sound of most words can cause certain images in your native language. For example, the English word “look” sounds like a bow. Come up with an associative series: "ARROW from a LUKE LOOKS at his target." This principle is especially relevant for less common words.

Make phrases with new words. Try to make sure that in the invented sentence there is only one unknown word, and all the rest are already familiar to you. Due to the specific context, it will be much easier for you to remember the translation.

Do not try to cram words. Despite the fact that the word in a foreign language is accurate information that requires one hundred percent memorization and reproduction, mechanical memorization will not lead to good results.
