To translate a surname into English correctly is a fairly simple matter. However, it requires some attention. After all, it is incorrect to make a translation of at least one letter, and the translation will be distorted. This is especially scary when processing documents for traveling abroad. When translating your last name into English, pay attention to the fact that the whole process is based on the selection of the corresponding letters in the foreign alphabet. Each letter can easily find its analogue. This process is called transliteration. So, for example, it will be easiest to translate the name, such as Ivanov. Having picked up the necessary characters of the English alphabet, you will receive a translation: Ivanov.

It will be more difficult with the translation for those whose last name is not the easiest. This is clearly expressed in the transliteration of letters such as E,,, b, b, y, z, various combinations of vowels and the participation of y in the family name. So, for example, E in translation will look like this: E or YE. The same goes for the letter E. The letter Y translates to Y or, in some cases, I.

Consider the fact that according to the rules of the Russian language, the letters I and Yu are formed by combining two sounds: Y and the second additional vowel (in the first case, this is A, in the second - Y). Therefore, their transliteration looks like this: YA or IA and YU or IU.

Also remember that some consonants are also combinations of two or more sounds. So, for example, F will look like ZH, X - like KH, H - like CH, W - like SH. When translating a letter such as C, two transliteration options are possible. This is TS or TC. But when translating the letter u, be careful. After all, she is the most complex in composition. In case of problems with the translation of the name and patronymic, remember that patronymic, as a rule, is not written. Only the first letter is used from it, after which a period is put. Translate the name in the same way as the last name, i.e. transliterate. If you have problems accepting documents with a specific translation of your last name, always focus on writing the last name in official documents, for example, in a passport. If your transfer coincides with the official, then you can safely prove your innocence on the basis of official documents.
