How to answer a diploma

The defense of the thesis is no less responsible and exciting step than the writing process. In a short time, you need to have time to briefly, clearly and comprehensively characterize the main points of the scientific research.

Make a written plan for defensive speech. Avoid unpronounceable and difficult to grasp words and phrases. Keep in mind that diploma protection consists of three main parts: introductory, basic and final.

After greeting the members of the examination committee, inform in the introductory part of the speech the topic of the thesis, its relevance, purpose, object and subject of study. Take your time, because rapid speech provokes shallow breathing and increases excitement.

Go to the main part of the defense of the thesis. Give theoretical theses regarding the topic of the diploma in a short form - in one or two sentences. The optimal number of abstracts is three to four. Give a brief description of the studied object, report the results of the analysis of this object - within the framework relating to the topic of the diploma. Indicate the reasons that impede the effective functioning of the object in question.

When illuminating the results of practical activities, refer to specific data, a research base. Indicate which enterprise or institution used the methods and experiments to verify theoretical data. Support statements with accurate facts and figures.

Report on the results that have been achieved in the course of practical research. Add recommendations for improving the process or phenomenon being studied. Highlight the planned results that the company can achieve after introducing the methodology into production. Follow the logic of the presentation.

Draw up the final part of the work in the form of conclusions based on the results of scientific research. In most cases, this is a positive result, the achievement of which is possible after the implementation of the proposed measures. End the speech with thanks, for example: "Thank you for your attention."

Useful advice

Do not peek at the draft: you must remember most of the data of the thesis by heart. The time for protective speech should be distributed as follows: 10-15% - for the introductory part, 80% - for the main part, 5-10% - for the final part.
