How to draw up an abstract in English

Writing abstracts is an integral part of the curriculum of any educational institution. To create an abstract in the native language is a perfectly feasible task, but what if the task is to write and draw up an abstract in English?

Once you have received such a task, select a topic and start searching for material. For example, if your theme is “Alaska. An excursion into history” (Alaska. History), type this query (first in Russian, then in English) into the search bar of your browser and copy all the material you need to write the abstract into a separate document.

If the material in a foreign language is incomprehensible in content or given without translation, use the online translator. The material you have chosen in Russian will also need to be translated into English (use an electronic translator for this or, if your knowledge of English is good enough, try to translate it yourself).

When writing an abstract in English, remember that the total number of pages should be 15-30 pieces in print (this includes the title page, list of references and the main text). Print the abstract on A4 paper, on one side of the sheet.

Design the title page of the abstract in English in accordance with standard requirements. In the upper central part of the page, write Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. A few indents below (also in the center) place a common topic / section (e.g. Section: Area stadies) and a sub-topic (e.g. Topic: The History of Alaska). Lower the cursor a little lower, do the alignment on the right side and write Done by (wrote)

The result of the design of the title page is an inscription with the name of the city and the year of writing the abstract (for example, Moscow 2009). Place this inscription in the lower part of the title block, in the center of the page.

Like abstracts in Russian, an abstract in English should include a table of contents, introduction, main body, conclusions, appendices, as well as a numbered list of literature used in writing. Based on this, carefully develop the semantic part of the essay: draw up an approximate work plan and select the appropriate material for each section. To make your work as easy as possible, download any abstract in English and design your literary creation exactly like the document you found on the network (observing indentation, font, paragraphs and intervals).

As for the headers and footers, in them indicate not only the page numbering, but also the topic itself (in this case, The History of Alaska). Each new paragraph (subtitle) is shown in bold and italics. The alignment of the main text should be left-aligned.
