How to write an essay description

This type of text is intended to convey the characteristic features of an object or phenomenon, to make it “visible” to someone who will read the text.

Write an introduction. If the description object is a single object, name its main function or role in the environment of its existence. If the object is a phenomenon or situation, in the introduction you can write what it is associated with or what attracts attention in the first place.

Think about what exactly makes this object recognizable. This may be its qualitative characteristics or actions that occur in it cyclically.

In accordance with the identification of this characteristic, use to describe the object in the first case - evaluative adjectives, adverbs, figurative expressions. In the second case, these can be verbs of timeless meaning that characterize the state of an object in different periods of time. Also use the above adjectives and verbs in comparative constructions and complex sentences.

First describe the most significant features of the object, and then proceed to the details and little things that complement the image. Describe the main characteristics so that the object becomes recognizable, and then use the original definitions and comparisons, rather than the stamps that first come to mind. To describe the movement of an observer’s thought, use verbs with a neutral meaning (see, understand, notice, etc.)

At the end, describe the object with a brief, capacious phrase - indicate what result the characteristics you mentioned create and what it matters.
