What you need to go to a journalist

School years fly by quickly, and now you are faced with the question of choosing a profession. If you can write beautifully and competently, and also strive to keep abreast of events taking place in your region and throughout the country, if you like to get to know and communicate with new and interesting people, try to apply for a journalist.

Decide on the choice of educational institution. Are there universities in your city that train journalists? Are you ready to go to another city? Will this city be Moscow or St. Petersburg, or will you prefer your regional center? Do you plan to enter the budget or can you afford to study for a fee? After you decide for yourself these issues, you can proceed to clarify the information that you will need to successfully enter the university.

Check in the reception of your chosen institution of higher education, what subjects you will need to take. You should not be content with the information that you learned a few years ago, the rules could change. Usually, journalism faculty, in addition to accepting the results of the Unified State Examination (there will certainly be Russian language and literature), hold a creative contest among applicants. The mark for this exam is cumulative with points in other subjects. Find out the passing grade that was last year and adequately evaluate your strengths.

Often, for admission to the faculty of journalism, an applicant must have articles printed in a publication. This rule should also be clarified in advance in the selection committee or on the faculty website. Work as a freelance correspondent; publications often publish interesting articles they send, written in a good style.

Sign up for university preparatory courses. You need to do this in advance, usually the number of places in such courses is less than the number of people who want to attend them. One university may have courses of various lengths: nine-month, six-month, three-month. Of course, it will be more effective to attend courses of longer duration, however, if you did not have time to sign up for nine months, go for six.

Before signing up for the exam, call the admissions office once again and check the list of items to be handed over: did you need any other exam result for admission?

After the necessary subjects have been handed over, take the received certificates, passport, school certificate, photograph and go to the university to write an application for admission. If you have high results, you will certainly be able to enroll in the chosen specialty.
