Afanasy Afanasevich Fet is considered to be one of the most subtle and soulful Russian lyrics. He, like no other, felt the beauty of his native nature and devoted many spiritual lines to it. The poem "The First Lily of the Valley" allows not only to understand and appreciate the beauty of the first spring flowers, but also to reveal the hidden depths of the poet’s inner world.

Admiring the beauty of spring nature

The poem "The First Lily of the Valley" is quite small in size. But it sinks into the soul after the first reading. The poet created it in the spring of 1854, returning home after a walk through the spring forest. Then, for him, it was as if the beauty of nature was rediscovered, after a long winter awakening to a new life.

The poem contains only 12 lines, but the charming beauty of the spring forest, a clear sunny day, the delicate charm of a fragile and tender lily of the valley and the sublime feelings of the lyrical hero are unusually emotionally described. The reader’s enthusiastic gaze opens up a picture of a forest glade that has not yet been completely freed from snow captivity.

But, despite the fact that the snow has not yet melted, the first lilies of the valley timidly peek out into the light. The image of delicate spring flowers is complemented by bright sunlight. The sun has not yet brought summer heat with it, now it gives tender blossoming warm rays to the blossoming nature.
